Support for Lambeth UCU

Resolution passed at AGM today

IOE UCU offers its solidarity to Lambeth UCU in their dispute over the imposition of inferior contracts for new staff from 1 April 2014.
The new contracts have created a two tier workforce, damaged morale and have little or no support in the college community.

We also condemn the college management for spending public money to obtain a court injunction to stop UCU members implementing their democratically arrived at decision to take industrial action.
Lambeth College plays a crucial role in educating the community in South London and and we call on Mark Silverman, Principal and Chief Executive of Lambeth College, to suspend implementation of the new contracts so as to allow serious negotiations between the College and the union.

We further agree to donate £200 to the Lambeth UCU strike fund.

Merger: Bulletin No. 3

Negotiation Time! The consultation is closed and we await the final outcome and the subsequent vote at Council.

Merger: Bulletin No.2

After two Town Hall meetings and Academic Board, one would have hoped that we would all be a lot clearer about why a merger is being proposed, things dont seem that way though....

All the details and a report from colleagues in Canada about what happened when the Ontario Institute
for Studies in Education was merged into the University of Toronto and a view from the students.

Merger: All Members Meeting 12 March

There will be an all members meeting on 12 March at 12:30-13:30 in Room S16 to discuss the Merger Proposal. Sandwich lunch will be provided.

Merger Bulletin No. 1

UCU members at the Institute have concerns about the proposed merger with UCL: about what was said at the Director’s briefing, about the paper that was circulated after the briefing, and about the organisational review which would appear to feed into the merger.
